# Working Business Continuity Plan Outline

**Important:** this is a generic starting template, not an FCA compliance certificate or ISO certification. Validate against your organisation and obtain owner approval.

## Document control

Owner: [role] Version: [number] Approved: [date] Next review: [date or trigger]

## Service and activity scope

Which activities, services and customers are covered? What is specifically excluded?

## Activation and decision authority

What observable event triggers consideration of this plan? Who decides? Who is deputy? What incident escalation and regulatory reporting workflows are affected?

## Priority activities and consequences

Document interruption impacts, recovery objectives, peak periods and affected customer groups. Link to BIA and impact tolerances where relevant.

## People, information, facilities, technology and supplier dependencies

List critical resources with owner, alternate and supporting evidence. Mark untested assumptions.

## Workaround and recovery sequence

Define activation, manual routes, capacity limits, responsible persons, verification and return-to-normal steps. Note non-negotiable security and compliance controls.

## Communications

Who must be told, through which primary and alternate channels? How are messages authorised and accurately logged?

## Exercises and remediation

For each exercise: scenario, assumptions, dates, observations, impact metrics, weaknesses, action owners and evidence of closure.

## Approval and review

Approval date, decision maker, residual risks, next scenario date and material-change triggers.
